About the Program
If you feel a deep commitment to social justice and equality, this program is for you. From the educational seal of Universidad Alberto Hurtado, we invite you to learn about human rights, transitional justice and cultural memory in Chile. You will reflect on the causes and social consequences of political violence, both during the dictatorship and in democracy, the difficulties in moving towards a more egalitarian and cohesive society, and the main struggles for social justice and the promotion of human rights and transitional justice in Chile today. At the same time, you will review some of the most important works of literature and film within the last four decades. Readings and films will be discussed focusing on the importance and complexities of human rights and memory as social practices.
The program features guest lecturers, cultural tours, opportunities for volunteer work, and social activities with local students.
